Brief History
The Cranbourne Harness Racing Club was founded in 1961 and conducted its first meeting at the Cranbourne Racing Centre complex on 25th April 1963.
From its inception the club (formerly known as the Cranbourne Trotting Club) raced exclusively during daytime on a track constructed inside the thoroughbred turf track.
In the early 1990's the track was reconstructed to its current 950m circumference and track lighting installed allowing the club to introduce spectacular night racing in Cranbourne.
In order to further secure its long term viability the club, in conjunction with the Cranbourne Turf Club and Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club, established a joint venture to own and operate Trios Tabaret gaming and entertainment venue. Since its opening in May 2000 Trios has provided a popular local meeting place for the ever increasing population of the City of Casey from its position on the hill overlooking the race track. |
