Casey Castle On Parade

Casey Castle On Parade

Members of the Cranbourne Allstars #1 Racing Partnership were on hand at the club's race meeting on Saturday 2nd April to see their yearling filly Casey Castle paraded before the first race and to meet trainer Bill Walker.

Casey handled her first visit to the track with a great deal of composure given the unusual surroundings and all that was going on around her. As she has shown during her breaking in, her even temperament may well be one of Casey's most important attributes as she continues her education.

Bill explained to the group that he plans to give the filly a short let up now after a lengthy sales preparation and breaking in process. As he has done successfully in the past, the Pearcedale mentor plans to have Casey move in and out of work over increasingly longer periods between now and October before starting a preparation aimed at having the filly at the trials sometime after Christmas.

Walker pointed our that the juvenile's debut season can be a grueling one with feature racing starting with the APG Gold Series in April and continuing all the way through to the Breeders Crown in Late August. Careful management of the filly's workload is something of a must therefore and an early track debut (pre Christmas) is not something Walker is contemplating.
