Lang Bounces Back

Veteran harness racing trainer Graeme Lang may not have been at Cranbourne on Saturday night but the Melton mentor had plenty of reason to smile with his team producing a stable double.

Lang has been recovering at home since a nasty fall from the sulky at Cranbourne in early July. Described by Lang as the most serious of his long and illustrious career, the fall left him with severe concussion, broken ribs and a fractured pelvis.

And so it was left to son Gavin and stable employee Kymberlie Hobby to manage the team at Cranbourne on Saturday night. Gavin started the ball rolling with a come from behind win on short priced favourite Lombo Toscannini in the first race on the program, the Ted Bull Funeral Services Pace. The 4 year old son of Bettors Delight looked well graded at Cranbourne and swept to a convincing win over Power Of Babel and Popeye Village.

Later in the night, Hobby combined with 5 year old mare Tiana Bromac to win the Hygain Feeds Pace. Spearing straight to the lead from the mobile barrier, Tiana Bromac rated a slick 1:58:3 to down favourite Meetthenewboss and handy performer Wattabout A Smile.

Tiana Bromac is part owned by Lang and is a half-sister to Free For All performer Tanabi Bromac who has amassed over $400,000 in stakemoney from his 20 wins to date. Her future no doubt rests in the breeding barn but until then Tiana Bromac should continue to provide Lang with a reason to get back to the track.
