Bound To be A Hit

Impeccably bred filly Musical Delight gave owners Bill and Anne Anderson every reason to smile with an outstanding debut win in the Warehouse Sales 2 Year Old Pace at Cranbourne on Sunday 12 February.

The daughter of leading stallion Bettors Delight and the former outstanding race mare Top Tempo had trialled moderately in the lead up to Sunday's race but produced one of the runs of the evening with her come from behind victory.

Pilot Nathan Jack eased Musical Delight out of the early speed battle in which Hion The Attack took the field of babies through a blistering 27.3 first quarter. Jack simply bided his time before unleashing the filly rounding the home turn and she quickly put paid to her rivals to score by 10m from Magnificent Art and Frosty Smile.

Trainer Garry Quinlan was understandably pleased with his charge's performance as she stopped the clock at 2:00:0 and seemingly had more to offer in the run to the line.

The Andersons have built their Lauriston Bloodstock business into one of the premier breeding establishments in the state and offered a half brother to Musical Delight in the recent APG Sales leading up to the Cranbourne meeting. Their decision to retain that colt despite his having reached $62,500 in the ring may well be vindicated in the future. At the very least it should have given punters an early warning that Musical Delight appears to be well above average!!
